Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Returns to Honolulu on Christmas Eve 2026

By: Sheraton Waikiki / 24 Jun 2026

College football returns to the islands this holiday season as the 23rd annual Sheraton Hawaii Bowl takes place on Thursday, December 24, 2026, at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex on the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus.

Set against the backdrop of Oahu's natural beauty, the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl has become one of college football's most unique postseason traditions, bringing teams, fans, and families together in Hawaii each December.

A Christmas Eve Tradition in Hawaii

The 2026 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl will kick off at 2 p.m. Hawaii Time and air nationally on ESPN. Conference affiliations for participating teams will be announced at a later date, with tickets expected to go on sale later this summer.

Known for memorable finishes and high-scoring action, the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl consistently delivers exciting moments on the national stage. Last year's game was one for the history books as the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors rallied from a 21-point first-half deficit to defeat the California Golden Bears 35-31 in front of a sold-out crowd.

The dramatic comeback was capped by a game-winning touchdown pass with just 10 seconds remaining, creating one of the most memorable moments in bowl game history.

One of College Football's Most Watched Holiday Matchups

The Sheraton Hawaii Bowl continues to grow its national audience while showcasing Hawaii to millions of viewers. The 2025 game attracted more than 15,000 fans at a sold-out Ching Complex and reached 2.7 million viewers across ESPN platforms, making it the most-watched Hawaii Bowl since 2013.

The annual event highlights not only competitive football but also the spirit, culture, and hospitality that make Hawaii a premier travel destination during the holiday season.

Supporting Hawaii's Community

Beyond the game itself, the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl has made a lasting impact across the islands through the Hawaii Bowl Foundation. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $1 million to local charitable organizations.

The bowl also supports education through its partnership with Teach For America Hawaii and the Extra Yard for Teachers program, helping provide resources and recognition for teachers, schools, and students throughout the state.

A Legacy of Football in Paradise

The bowl game was established in 2002 following the University of Hawaii's standout 2001 football season. Since then, it has become a cornerstone of Hawaii's sports calendar and one of the most anticipated postseason events in college football.

While the New Aloha Stadium Entertainment District is under development, the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex will host the game for the fifth consecutive year, continuing its role as home to this celebrated holiday tradition.

Plan Your Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Getaway

Whether you're traveling to cheer on your team, enjoy a holiday escape, or experience the excitement of college football in paradise, the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl offers a one-of-a-kind Christmas Eve experience in Honolulu.
