The Royal Hawaiian Earns Prestigious AAA Four Diamond Recognition

By: The Royal Hawaiian / 11 Aug 2026

As The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki approaches its centennial celebration, the iconic Pink Palace of the Pacific adds another distinction to its storied legacy: AAA Four Diamond status.

The Royal Hawaiian was named one of seven new hotels to earn the coveted AAA Four Diamond designation in June 2026, joining a select collection of properties recognized for their distinctive guest experiences, surroundings, and amenities.

A Celebrated Standard of Hospitality

Since 1937, AAA has conducted professional, in-person evaluations of hotels and restaurants. Properties are assessed through unannounced inspections based on AAA's four key standards: Cleanliness, Comfort, Cuisine, and Consistency.

The Royal Hawaiian's new Four Diamond designation recognizes the resort among approximately 1,750 Four Diamond hotels across AAA's evaluated destinations.

For nearly a century, the resort has welcomed generations of travelers to its unmistakable pink facade and storied setting along Waikiki Beach. Today, guests continue to discover a destination shaped by gracious hospitality, distinctive dining, restorative experiences at Abhasa Spa, and a rich connection to the history and culture of Waikiki.

A New Milestone on the Journey to 100 Years

Opened in 1927, The Royal Hawaiian will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027. The AAA Four Diamond recognition adds to the momentum surrounding this milestone and honors a legacy that continues to unfold.

From its historic architecture and tropical gardens to memorable experiences along the shores of Waikiki, the resort remains a defining destination for travelers seeking to discover the singular spirit of Hawaii.

As the centennial approaches, The Royal Hawaiian looks forward to sharing more stories, experiences, and celebrations honoring the people and moments that have shaped its first century.
